M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Sz\u00f6ll\u0151si<\/strong> | writer & photojournalist (1984, Budapest)<\/p>\n

Studied at K\u00e1roli G\u00e1sp\u00e1r Protestant University, faculty of Humanities between 2004 and 2010. Wrote his thesis of L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Krasznahorkai\u2019s works, titled \u201eSearch for identity as text organiser in L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Krasznahorkai\u2019s first three novels\u201d.<\/p>\n

His works were published in several Hungarian cultural and literary magazines such as Alf\u00f6ld, \u00c9let \u00e9s Irodalom, Jelenkor, Kort\u00e1rs, Mozg\u00f3 Vil\u00e1g, L\u00e1t\u00f3, Tiszat\u00e1j, Vigilia. His first book was pubished in 2010 titled Akt\u00edv k\u00f3rterem (\u201eActive Hospital Room\u201d), that was followed by his second book of poetry titled \u00c1llapotok \u2013 negyven\u00f6t t\u00f6red\u00e9k (\u201eStates \u2013 fourtyfive fragments\u201d) in 2011. He also published prose and dramas. A reading theater performance of the drama Lassan, visszatartva (\u201eSlowly, retaining\u201d) was presented in the National Theater in 2014. His first short story book, V\u00e1lt\u00f3\u00e1ram<\/a> was published in 2016 (Eur\u00f3pa Publisher.), and the book won the Marg\u00f3 Prize, for the best first prose volume in 2017.<\/p>\n

He received the Istv\u00e1n\u00a0\u00d6rk\u00e9ny writer scholarship. In 2008 he was awarded the poetry Award for Excellence by L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Lator. He won the Marg\u00f3 prize, for the best first fiction book in 2017. As an editor he worked at \u00c1rt\u00e9r literary, fine arts and social journal, at \u00dajnautilus social and cultural portal and at Parnasszus poetry magazine. As a photographer, he is the creator of several documentary series and he was the editor of Budapest Catalogue between 2013 and 2020.

Since the age of 12 he\u2019s been playing basketball competitively at MAFC and other sports clubs. He also played in NB1. In 2002 he was chosen the most skilled player in his age group in Szombathely.<\/p>\n
